Try to detach yourself from the feeling of sudden elation that may overwhelm you when you see a scheme promising you riches in a few weeks, and just think about it logically. Why should a stranger offer YOU such a wonderful opportunity? Who are YOU to that person?
The answer to both questions is: YOU are a source of income for that person!
The financial benefit to that person from your joining a scheme can be either direct (if you pay money) or indirect (if you provide information about yourself which that person can use to make money).
